Laser Treatment Q & A

What is laser treatment?

Laser treatment refers to the advanced laser tools Dr. Kolansky uses to help you achieve your beauty goals. His state-of-the-art office is equipped with advanced laser technology that can improve the look of your skin and remove unwanted hair, pigmentation, and blemishes.

What types of lasers are available for treatment?

Advanced Dermatology Surgery & Laser Center offers the most advanced laser technology to help you achieve your beauty goals. Some of the lasers Dr. Kolansky uses for skin rejuvenation and health include:

VBeamⓇ

The VBeam is referred to as a pulsed dye laser, which means it delivers pulses of energy at varying wavelengths to your skin to get the desired results. Dr. Kolansky uses the Vbeam laser as a tool to treat common skin concerns such as rosacea, red birthmarks, port wine stains, scars, and sun-damaged skin. The laser energy is also used to treat stubborn warts and is safe enough to use on the neck and chest.

PixelⓇ

Dr. Kolansky uses his Pixel laser for laser skin resurfacing. The laser tool creates tiny holes in your skin and removes the epidermis and upper dermis layers, while at the same time triggering your body’s natural healing process to grow new, healthy skin to fill in the microscopic holes. He uses the Pixel laser to reduce signs of aging, including fine lines, pigmentation, and sun damage.

Dr. Kolansky can review the benefits of both laser treatments and can help you determine the tool that provides you with the most benefits.

How does laser hair removal work?

Dr. Kolansky also offers laser hair removal at Advanced Dermatology Surgery & Laser Center. His laser hair removal system sends intense, pulsing beams of light that target the hair follicle under your skin to destroy it and prevent future hair growth.

Laser hair removal works best on light skin with dark hair, and you may need several sessions to get the best results. Dr. Kolansky also recommends annual touch-ups to maintain your hair-free skin.

Am I a good candidate for laser tattoo removal?

If you’re looking into treatment options to remove an unwanted tattoo, then you should schedule an appointment with Dr. Kolansky, who can determine if you’re a good candidate for the procedure. The length and frequency of your treatment sessions may depend on the size, color, and age of your tattoo. Some tattoos can be removed in 2-4 sessions, but others may take as many as 10 treatments. How deep your pigments extend into your skin also affects laser tattoo removal treatment.
